Choosing the name for my new CPA firm was both a personal journey and a tribute to the remarkable community that I now call home. Naming a business isn’t always easy, as it must encapsulate both the mission and spirit of the enterprise while resonating with customers and clients. In my case, the inspiration came from the fascinating concept of “blue zones,” areas of the world recognized for the unusual longevity of their residents. Such communities have caught the attention of scientists and sociologists alike, who have studied their lifestyles to understand the secrets behind their impressive lifespans.
There are 5 blue zones in the world, located in Okinawa, Japan; Nicoya, Costa Rica; Ikaria, Greece; Sardinia, Italy; and Loma Linda, California, share common traits that have been attributed to the long and healthy lives of their inhabitants. Despite their diverse locations, these areas exhibit three notable characteristics: a strong sense of community and social bonds, an active lifestyle, and a healthy diet. Residents of these regions not only live longer but maintain a high quality of life well into their later years. As someone who values well-being and community, these principles deeply resonated with me.
Upon relocating to Florida, I discovered The Villages, a unique community that immediately struck me as deserving of blue zone status. The energy of The Villages is palpable; it is a place where residents are not only active but thrive on interaction and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Known for its vibrant social scene, ample recreational opportunities, and focus on wellness, The Villages shares many of the same qualities found in the renowned blue zones around the world. Locals often joke that just living in The Villages adds an extra decade to your life, a testament to the positive environment and lifestyle embraced by its residents.
This inspiring atmosphere in The Villages made the decision clear when I decided to open my Accounting firm: BLUEZONE CPA. The name is an homage to this vibrant community, honoring its spirit and commitment to living well. With the name BLUEZONE CPA, I aim not only to celebrate the area but also to reflect the firm’s mission of providing exceptional, reliable, and personalized financial services that support the well-being and prosperity of our clients.
